NRS Tax Clearance Certificate 2026: How to Apply Online Today

The transition to the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) has simplified how you get your Tax Clearance Certificate.

A TCC is the only official proof that you have paid your taxes for the last three years.

You cannot win government contracts or process certain international visas without this document.

Under the new 2026 guidelines, the NRS has moved the entire process to a single digital portal.

To begin, you must first ensure your Tax Identification Number (TIN) is fully identified and linked to your NIN.

Log in to the official NRS Self-Service Portal using your identified credentials.

Navigate to the “Tax Clearance” tab on your dashboard to start a new application. Before applying for your TCC, use our Nigeria Tax Calculator 2026 to ensure your payments are accurate.

The system will automatically check if you have filed your annual returns for 2023, 2024, and 2025.

If any year is missing, the portal will block your TCC application until those returns are filed.

You must upload a recent passport photograph and update your current residential address in the profile section.

Once the automated compliance check passes, you can preview your TCC draft.

Check that your name, occupation, and total tax paid are accurately reflected on the draft.

The NRS now includes a mandatory QR code on every certificate for instant verification by banks and agencies.

Click “Generate” to receive your digital TCC, which you can download as a PDF immediately.

If you are a corporate entity, the process requires your audited financial statements for the last three years.

Newly incorporated companies can apply for a “NIL” TCC if they have not yet started operations.

Remember that a TCC issued in 2026 is only valid until December 31st of the same year.
